Aftercare in Thailand

Getting a tattoo while staying in the tropics requires a bit more attention to after care. If you are visiting Thailand your body is not used to the environmental bacteria that grows in a tropical climate, thus we will explain how to help keep your new tattoo clean and healthy. We will use special protective film to cover your tattoo and it should be kept on for at least 24 hours. After you remove the protective film, gently wash the tattooed area with soap, warm water, and then pat the area dry. We sell a tattoo cream in the shop that you can purchase to apply 3-4 times per day for the first week and then 1-2 times per day until fully healed.

At first the tattoo will start to peel and you might experience some itchiness but there shouldn’t be any discharge. If there is discharge seek medical assistance as it might be infected. If the itchiness is bothersome, apply more of the tattoo cream. Once the tattoo area is no longer peeling and does not feel itchy this most likely means your tattoo has fully healed. It’s important to keep in mind that everyone’s body is different. Some take longer to heal while others take less time.

Some tattoos can take up to 7-10 days to heal and it depends on the size.

Things you must avoid during the healing process:

-Avoid swimming and exposure to water for longer periods.

-Do not pick at the tattooed area.

-Avoid direct sunlight for longer periods.

-Avoid heavy workouts (sweating) for a least three days.

-Avoid tight clothing on the tattooed area.
